The VERSACE Spring/Summer 2010 Collection during Milan Fashion Week was nothing less than what they usually deliver, SPECTACULAR designs; everything from the floating, futuristic soles to the bright pastel patterns. Inspired by Tim Burton’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’, Donatello Versace’s collection is based on the idea of that “fantasy land.” 

The inspiration took the shape of mixing vivid pastels, geometric prints, and baroque curlicues. The platforms and sky high heels will still be the norm for spring, but Donatella has incorporated a floating sole which is between the shoes and the platform.  I have noticed many Italian designers (ie: Gia Lorenzi) have adopting this concept and brings a whole new fresh look  to the platform. This collection is young, fresh, fun and hip and will appeal to both the young and old, alike. 

For this collection she has focused on working metallics and neutrals and thus bringing sexy back.

These gorgeous shoes by Versace are every fashionista’s dream. They have narrow non-patent leather straps at the ankle and toe and a stiletto heel. They also have an unusual gold finish and black high platform sole.

Donatella Versace has taken the creative reins and has continued to steer the house in a carefully considered direction that stays true to Gianni’s legend. Must put on ‘to buy list’….

Christian Louboutin started the coloured sole trend with his signature red sole and many designers have followed in suit. Donatello has opted for a yellow sole which brings vibrance to the collection. She also uses crystal heart adornments, and zips. We will definately be seeing a lot more of these shoes, on celebrities in spring.
