Maison Martin Margiela is the designer of choice for a global community of independent trendsetters and stylists mainly because of his unconventional appeal which is what I love about him.
Born in Belgium(1959), Martin Margiela studied at the Antwerpen’s Fine Arts School(1980) and was a freelance designer for 5 years after graduation. He worked for Jean Paul Gaultier for two years (1985-87) and decided to strike out on his own, showing his first collection under his own label in 1988.
Nicolas Ghesquiere, the designer of Balenciaga, has said on several occasions that he is a fan of Margiela and often wears Margiela’s clothes.
He has his pecularities – he never shows himself in the catwalk, and he uses old forms, old mannequins, and clothes hangers to show his collection.
These leather booties feature a rubbed oil finish, Loose-fitting cuff and raised seam detailing, asymmetrical top line, a 3.5 inch covered heel and 6 inch shaft and a crepe sole.
